O'er the year that's ahead, some shadows are cast:
They're those things that stand out, from a year gone past.
Though shadows they may be, some still will bring pain:
Life's lessons are hard learned, But they have brought gain;
For often I have found, my trust incomplete,
And have knelt once again, at the Dear Lord's Feet.
I look to the future,though it be unclear;
I've strength in His promise, that He will be near:
It's with faith I reach out, take hold of His Hand:
I have this assurance, in His Power I'll stand.
Dear Saviour I would pray, when tempted to doubt,
That your Spirit so fill, all else is cast out;
And when through the next year, my courage would wane,
May I drink of the stream, being renewed again.
When a loved one has gone, and we feel it's not fair,
We could be tempted to feel, even God doesn't care;
But the sum-total of life, down here on this earth,
Is to fit us for Heaven and all it's great worth.
"A mansion I go to prepare" Jesus said,
Whenever this temporal body we've shed:
It cost Him His life-blood to open the door,
To all we can envisage, and so much more.
For an unbroken circle, before it's too late,
Our loved one's in that far off country await:
On that day we will renew love's severed cord,
Through the power of our crucified, risen Lord.
In the land of Glory, when we meet those we love,
Who've gone on ahead to those mansions above:
We'll never again part from that peaceful shore,
Sickness, pain and death will be past evermore.
